Greg Kroah-Hartman 88f8a01c42 Revert "rtnetlink: Reject negative ifindexes in RTM_NEWLINK"
This reverts commit 42c8406432 which is
commit 30188bd7838c16a98a520db1fe9df01ffc6ed368 upstream.

It was improperly backported to 4.19.y, and applied to the wrong
function, which obviously causes problems. A fixed version will be
applied as a separate commit later.

In commit f296b374b9 ("media: dvb: symbol fixup for dvb_attach()") in
the 4.19.y tree, a few symbols were missed due to files being renamed in
newer kernel versions. Fix this up by properly marking up the

Greg Kroah-Hartman ce63d45f45 Revert "drivers core: Use sysfs_emit and sysfs_emit_at for show(device *...) functions"
This reverts commit 3ce2cd63e8 which is
commit aa838896d87af561a33ecefea1caa4c15a68bc47 upstream.

Ben writes:
When I looked into the referenced security issue, it seemed to only be
exploitable through wakelock names, and in the upstream kernel only
after commit c8377adfa781 "PM / wakeup: Show wakeup sources stats in
sysfs" (first included in 5.4). So I would be interested to know if
and why a fix was needed for 4.19.

More importantly, this backported version uniformly converts to
sysfs_emit(), but there are 3 places sysfs_emit_at() must be used
	instead:

Greg Kroah-Hartman f296b374b9 media: dvb: symbol fixup for dvb_attach()
commit 86495af1171e1feec79faa9b64c05c89f46e41d1 upstream.

In commit 9011e49d54dc ("modules: only allow symbol_get of
EXPORT_SYMBOL_GPL modules") the use of symbol_get is properly restricted
to GPL-only marked symbols. This interacts oddly with the DVB logic
which only uses dvb_attach() to load the dvb driver which then uses
symbol_get().

Fix this up by properly marking all of the dvb_attach attach symbols as
EXPORT_SYMBOL_GPL().

Greg Kroah-Hartman df2b6b5a11 sparc: fix up arch_cpu_finalize_init() build breakage.
In commit b698b5d11a ("sparc/cpu: Switch to arch_cpu_finalize_init()") the
check for ARCH_HAS_CPU_FINALIZE_INIT was backported incorrectly to the SPARC
config option, not SPARC32. This causes build problems for the sparc64 arch:

commit 4fee0915e649bd0cea56dece6d96f8f4643df33c upstream.

Because the linux-distros group forces reporters to release information

security team recommends not interacting with them at all as this just
causes confusion and the early-release of reported security problems.

Greg Kroah-Hartman e0302cf3ba video: imsttfb: check for ioremap() failures
commit 13b7c0390a5d3840e1e2cda8f44a310fdbb982de upstream.

We should check if ioremap() were to somehow fail in imsttfb_probe() and
handle the unwinding of the resources allocated here properly.

Ideally if anyone cares about this driver (it's for a PowerMac era PCI
display card), they wouldn't even be using fbdev anymore. Or the devm_*
apis could be used, but that's just extra work for diminishing
returns...

Greg Kroah-Hartman cb0bd59919 x86: fix backwards merge of GDS/SRSO bit
Stable-tree-only change.

Due to the way the GDS and SRSO patches flowed into the stable tree, it
was a 50% chance that the merge of the which value GDS and SRSO should
be. Of course, I lost that bet, and chose the opposite of what Linus
chose in commit 64094e7e3118 ("Merge tag 'gds-for-linus-2023-08-01' of
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/tip/tip")

Fix this up by switching the values to match what is now in Linus's tree
as that is the correct value to mirror.

Greg Kroah-Hartman f54ca87b5f Revert "staging: rtl8192e: Replace macro RTL_PCI_DEVICE with PCI_DEVICE"
This reverts commit ec310591cf839653a5b2c1fcf6b8a110c3f2485c which is
commit a80f4c7dc4 upstream.

Ben reports that this should not have been backported to the older
kernels as the rest of the macro is not empty. It was a clean-up patch
in 6.4-rc1 only, it did not add new device ids.

Greg Kroah-Hartman 0821988113 i40e: fix build warnings in i40e_alloc.h
Not upstream as it was fixed in a much larger api change in newer
kernels.

gcc-13 rightfully complains that enum is not the same as an int, so fix
up the function prototypes in i40e_alloc.h to be correct, solving a
bunch of build warnings.

Greg Kroah-Hartman 047bf6291b i40iw: fix build warning in i40iw_manage_apbvt()
Not upstream as this function is no longer around anymore.

The function i40iw_manage_apbvt() has the wrong prototype match from the
.h file to the .c declaration, so fix it up, otherwise gcc-13 complains
(rightfully) that the type is incorrect.

Greg Kroah-Hartman 70ae89da72 memstick: fix memory leak if card device is never registered
commit 4b6d621c9d859ff89e68cebf6178652592676013 upstream.

When calling dev_set_name() memory is allocated for the name for the
struct device. Once that structure device is registered, or attempted
to be registerd, with the driver core, the driver core will handle
cleaning up that memory when the device is removed from the system.

Unfortunatly for the memstick code, there is an error path that causes
the struct device to never be registered, and so the memory allocated in
dev_set_name will be leaked. Fix that leak by manually freeing it right
before the memory for the device is freed.

Greg Kroah-Hartman 669c76e55d kvm: initialize all of the kvm_debugregs structure before sending it to userspace
commit 2c10b61421a28e95a46ab489fd56c0f442ff6952 upstream.

When calling the KVM_GET_DEBUGREGS ioctl, on some configurations, there
might be some unitialized portions of the kvm_debugregs structure that
could be copied to userspace. Prevent this as is done in the other kvm
ioctls, by setting the whole structure to 0 before copying anything into
it.

Bonus is that this reduces the lines of code as the explicit flag
setting and reserved space zeroing out can be removed.

Greg Kroah-Hartman e136657a7a Revert "x86/fpu: Use _Alignof to avoid undefined behavior in TYPE_ALIGN"
This reverts commit a00d020f18 which is
commit 55228db2697c09abddcb9487c3d9fa5854a932cd upstream.

_Alignof is not in the gcc version that the 4.19.y kernel still
supports (4.6), so this change needs to be reverted as it breaks the
build on those older compiler versions.

Greg Kroah-Hartman 9d148097e6 UPSTREAM: once: fix section mismatch on clang builds
On older kernels (5.4 and older), building the kernel with clang can
cause the section name to end up with "" in them, which can cause lots
of runtime issues as that is not normally a valid portion of the string.

This was fixed up in newer kernels with commit 33def8498fdd ("treewide:
Convert macro and uses of __section(foo) to __section("foo")") but
that's too heavy-handed for older kernels.

So for now, fix up the problem that commit 62c07983bef9 ("once: add
DO_ONCE_SLOW() for sleepable contexts") caused by being backported by
removing the "" characters from the section definition.

Greg Kroah-Hartman 4311da9fb0 selinux: use "grep -E" instead of "egrep"
commit c969bb8dbaf2f3628927eae73e7c579a74cf1b6e upstream.

The latest version of grep claims that egrep is now obsolete so the build
now contains warnings that look like:
egrep: warning: egrep is obsolescent; using grep -E
fix this by using "grep -E" instead.

Greg Kroah-Hartman fe9302b408 mvpp2: no need to check return value of debugfs_create functions
[ Upstream commit e6882aa623f6fe0d80fa82ebf3ee78c353bffbe1 ]

When calling debugfs functions, there is no need to ever check the
return value. The function can work or not, but the code logic should
never do something different based on this.

Greg Kroah-Hartman ebfb744bb6 debugfs: add debugfs_lookup_and_remove()
commit dec9b2f1e0455a151a7293c367da22ab973f713e upstream.

There is a very common pattern of using
debugfs_remove(debufs_lookup(..)) which results in a dentry leak of the
dentry that was looked up. Instead of having to open-code the correct
pattern of calling dput() on the dentry, create
debugfs_lookup_and_remove() to handle this pattern automatically and
properly without any memory leaks.

Greg Kroah-Hartman 8c0432fb51 HID: check for valid USB device for many HID drivers
commit 93020953d0fa7035fd036ad87a47ae2b7aa4ae33 upstream.

Many HID drivers assume that the HID device assigned to them is a USB
device as that was the only way HID devices used to be able to be
created in Linux. However, with the additional ways that HID devices
can be created for many different bus types, that is no longer true, so
properly check that we have a USB device associated with the HID device
before allowing a driver that makes this assumption to claim it.

code paths can cause problems if the device being controlled is not a
USB device due to a lack of checking. Add the needed checks to ensure
that the USB device accesses are only happening on a "real" USB device,
and not one on some other bus.

Greg Kroah-Hartman c9ca8ab1ef HID: add USB_HID dependancy on some USB HID drivers
commit f237d9028f844a86955fc9da59d7ac4a5c55d7d5 upstream.

Some HID drivers are only for USB drivers, yet did not depend on
CONFIG_USB_HID. This was hidden by the fact that the USB functions were
stubbed out in the past, but now that drivers are checking for USB
devices properly, build errors can occur with some random
configurations.

commit d080811f27936f712f619f847389f403ac873b8f upstream.

The chicony HID driver only controls USB devices, yet did not have a
dependancy on USB_HID. This causes build errors on some configurations
like sparc when building due to new changes to the chicony driver.

Greg Kroah-Hartman 9142379431 HID: add hid_is_usb() function to make it simpler for USB detection
A number of HID drivers already call hid_is_using_ll_driver() but only
for the detection of if this is a USB device or not. Make this more
obvious by creating hid_is_usb() and calling the function that way.

Also converts the existing hid_is_using_ll_driver() functions to use the
new call.
